A Wax Future Cycle in ski tuning refers to a process where we use a specialized machine that uses infrared heat to evenly apply and deeply penetrate wax into the ski base, providing a consistent and long-lasting glide finish, considered more efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional hot iron waxing methods; essentially, the infrared lamps heat the wax directly on the ski base without direct contact, allowing for deeper wax penetration and better gliding performance across the entire ski surface. We use a WINTERSTEIGER Wax Future machine to apply “Wax Future cycles” to your skis. We recommend 1-cycle for Tech skis and 3-cycles for Speed skis.
Key points about a Wax Future cycle:
- Infrared technology: The primary feature is the use of infrared lamps that emit heat to evenly melt and distribute the wax across the ski base.
- Deep penetration: Infrared heat allows the wax to penetrate deeper into the ski base compared to traditional ironing methods, resulting in a more durable glide.
- Consistent application: The machine ensures a consistent wax application across the entire ski surface, minimizing inconsistencies and hot spots.
- Reduced wax usage: Due to the efficient heating process, a Wax Future cycle generally requires less wax than traditional methods, making it more environmentally friendly.
How a Wax Future cycle works:
- Base preparation: The ski base is cleaned and prepared to ensure proper wax adhesion.
- Wax application: The chosen wax is applied to the ski base.
- Infrared heating: The infrared lamps are activated, evenly heating the wax on the ski base.
- Cooling and scraping: Once the wax is melted and fully penetrated, the ski is allowed to cool before scraping off the excess wax.
Benefits of using a Wax Future:
- Improved glide: Provides superior gliding performance due to deeper wax penetration.
- Longer-lasting wax: The deeper wax penetration leads to a longer lasting glide.
- Better for your skis: Just the right amount of heat is used at an optimal and consistent distance from the ski preventing unnecessary wear and tear that could cause issues like early delamination or other problems.
- Environmental benefits: Uses less wax and minimizes waste.
We recommend 1-cycle on the Wax Future for Tech skis (SL and GS) and 3-cycles on the Wax Future for Speed skis (SG and DH).
